Kim’s Road to Recovery

On Thursday May 13, 2021 my mom (Kim Hovanec) was in a severe head on collision. She was on her way to babysit her grandkids in the morning when it happened. Her vehicle flew into the ditch and rolled on its side. She was trapped inside the car and had to be cut out of the drivers side. There is nothing left of the car and it’s hard to believe my mom is alive. She was flown to the hospital with several broken bones (16+) and a slight brain bleed. She was rushed into a 5hr surgery Thursday (13th)afternoon for doctors to repair what they could right away. Later she had a second surgery on Monday(17th)to place a few more bones that were too swollen during the first surgery. She has been sedated since Thursday with a long road to recovery ahead of her. We aren’t sure at the moment how many more surgeries, if any, she will need. While she is in the hospital, my dad has been juggling trying to work with being there for her. I’ve made this fundraiser to help him financially as much as possible so he doesn’t get behind on bills and have more added to his plate right now. He wants to be at the hospital with my mom as much as he can but it’s just not possible if he has to work long hours to make up for lost wages from both of them. This has been a hard few days so far but it’s just the beginning of a long recovery for my mom as well as my dad.
