In February, we found out Rhett has kidney cancer. In April, he spent a few days in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism from the cancer.

The cancer spread from his kidney to other organs including the brain. Last Wednesday, he finished the 5th of 5 radiation treatments to the brain at the City of Hope. He has also been taking a chemo pill called Inlyta and had a couple immunotherapy treatments called Keytruda.

After the radiation last Wednesday he was admitted into the hospital again. His abdomen filled with fluid which was drained and now has reappeared. He has blood clots in his legs and lungs. He’s had two blood transfusions because his blood work results are totally out of whack. Tonight he was moved from a regular room to the PCU to be better monitored. All of these problems are the result of the cancer.
