I always say "it takes a village" to raise a child. Mainly because I was raised by one.

My Auntie Carole is one of the leaders of said village. If you ask her about me she will tell you that I was named after her - it's true. :) And I am proud to say it.

We recently received the news that her cancer is untreatable. She's in hospice now in order to enjoy her final days in comfort. As I am sure you understand, this is devastating news for my entire family and all the people she touched.

My auntie Carole is one of the strongest women I have known. After every hardship endured she always came out fighting on the other side asking; "what next?"

There are few people in this world that have a genuine heart of gold - she is one of them. I have witnessed her hand her last dollar to a hungry person on the street. And my grandma used to get so mad because in the dead of winter, she would happily hand over her bus fair or coat and walk for miles to get home - completely frozen (sometimes frost bitten) when she arrived. Auntie Carole didn't care though. She would say, "I will do it again! You have no idea what it is like to be homeless!"

Now that we know she is losing her battle with cancer we have all asked her what she needs/wants. Her only wish is to have her lost partial (teeth) replaced. That's it. Not a trip. Not front row tickets to a football game. (Although if my mother or her siblings got to her first this request may be included. lol) Just her teeth so she can smile for photos at her last Christmas with her family.

This is why I am asking for some assistance from you all this holiday season. I would like to be able to give her not only her teeth but some money to go shopping for her kids and grandchildren in order to make her last Christmas with them special. Not because gifts are necessary, but shopping may take her mind off of the stress for a bit.

I understand that times are tough for us all, not to mention the holidays are extremely expensive, but I figured that I would ask. If you are able to help me make sure she gets what she wants by donating or by simply sharing this post, I would truly appreciate it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. And I am wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday season. Hold them tight and say "I love you" often, because one day it will be too late.

Blessings to you all.
