This past winter, Dante walked into his doctors office because of a pain he had in the back of his knee. The news of his diagnoses of a tumor was an absolute shock to him and his family. This is news you never want to hear, especially when you’re in your early 30’s, with a wife and a young son.
The hope was that the tumor was benign, but a few weeks later, finding out that it was cancerous was something no one was ready for.
Dante and his family, being the positive people they are and having a strong faith in God, were ready to take this fight with cancer head on and prepared for Chemotherapy.
In March, Dante began his treatment. However, his body did not respond like they hoped, so to make sure the cancer did not spread he was left with only one option, to have his leg amputated.
In May, Dante had his leg removed from just above his knee. Again, staying positive and with his faith, he was ready to start this new chapter of his life with a prosthetic leg. The prospect of returning to his life before the cancer diagnosis was enough motivation for him to get through this extremely tough time.
As with everything else, with Covid-19, the process to get a prosthetic took longer then normal. Dante’s was unable to return to work until the process was complete and he learned how to walk again. Nevertheless, before he he was able to get the prosthetic he was hit with another obstacle. After being with the same company for over 3 years, his job was terminated, which left him without an income or medical insurance.
Even while he had medical insurance there were a lot of out of the pocket expenses on top of their regular monthly bills.
With medical bills piling up and being recently unemployed, the possibility of paying these medical bills or paying for a prosthetic leg (5,000-40,000 USD), seems unreachable.
What we would love to do here on Go Fund me, is help Dante and his family with the medical bills that are accumulating, plus help him to be able to pay for a prosthetic leg. We know at this time things can be hard financially for everyone, but we ask if you can donate any amount, no amount is too small, to help take some of the financial burden off him and his family and help them focus on healing.
