Help Us Through The Summer

I was trying to avoid doing this but me and Dante are going to need some help making it to September. As many of you know last year I separated from my husband and since then it’s been very difficult keeping our heads above water. Things took a turn over the last month.

My ex husband has decided to separate himself further us and took a job farther away and at the same time that I work. Up until this point the situation was that I worked during the day and he would watch Dante and this would allow me to keep working a certain amount of hours that mostly kept us afloat. But now that he’s taken this different job, I had to switch to nights.

My mom watches him at night while I work but she has her own job and can’t do this as much so I took a significant cut in hours, which is causing me to be behind on everything. My ex husband does not pay support regularly and the courts do not enforce as much as you’d think. They only really start enforcing large numbers so for now he sends a little bit here and there to keep out of major trouble. So it’s down to me to do it all.

On top of this, I also take Dante to autism therapy twice a week with home sessions 3 times a week, so even if I had a babysitter available, I still need to be at these appointments. He’s been in therapy for a year now. It’s helped a ton but it has causes me a significant loss of income since Dante’s dad has never taken part in these appointments so I can potentially work more.

Come September, Dante will be in school full time with an after school program. While he’s in school, I will work and I will be able to take some night shifts to add to my income.

What I’m looking to raise will get us through till he starts school and I can work to the degree I was working before all this started last year.

$850 will cover is for all of August. My part of the rent, my internet bill, my light bill and some things I still need to get Dante before school. I’m already receiving SNAP benefits and at the end of July we are attending a backpack/school supply drive here in town so that will give us some supplies he’ll still need. I also need to get him some more clothes for the school year and that would be covered in the $850. Anything extra will go towards more clothes & shoes for school.

I appreciate any and all help, including shares. Everything matters and I can’t put into words how much all the help so far has meant to me. It’s very hard to admit that I’m drowning but I’m trying to keep positive and do whatever I can to make things okay for us. Starting school will be a huge help in stabilizing my work situation.
