Onya and Brogan's Cancer treatments
Donation protected
Hi everyone. Thanks so much for taking the time to read about our fundraiser. Many of you know about Cassidy and my Bernese mountain dog named Onya. She is a much beloved part of our family. A little over a year ago, Cassidy began to struggle health wise and we were frequently having to leave Onya for weeks at a time, as I had to take Cassidy to the hospital repeatedly. When Onya began to show signs of stress and anxiety, including aggressive behavior, we made the very difficult decision to see if we could find her a more stable home environment.
The local bernese club found us the absolute perfect home for her with the amazing Marilynn Blake. Marilynn, Cassidy, Onya and I had an instant bond and we decided to proceed with an "open adoption." Onya also got an instant dog family too as Marilyn has two other male bernese named Brogan and Destine.
The year since our adoption was so special. We all felt so lucky. Onya was blissfully happy in her new home and Cassidy and I were fortunate to still get to spend monthly visits with her as well as Marilynn's whole family.
At the end of 2015 though, things started taking a sad turn. First Brogan was diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy in hopes of buying him time until radiation would be available. Now, just two months later Onya has been diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer. The doctors down at the University of Minnesota have come up with a dual chemotherapy treatment plan for both Brogan and Onya. Needless to say the costs for just one dog is very high, two dogs, are a huge burden. That is why Cassidy and I decided to set this page up, hoping we can help Marilynn help Brogan and Onya. We are so grateful to everyone for taking the time to read our story and for any donation big or small. Love to you all.
