Hello, I am Heather (Monteith), Anne's colleague for over 30 years.
We were shaken to the core by Anne's passing last year, we all loved her, she was a wonderful person who quite literally saved lives, helping many thousands of people through her work of teaching correct breathing and which she was very much still involved in right up to the end. She was looking forward to doing much much more and then, suddenly she was gone and now we, the G.R.E.A.T. Big Trust the charity she and I set up, are continuing the work. (The Global Respiratory Educational Advancement Trust) Charity no. SCO 37967
The Trust is dedicated to the teaching of Correct Breathing, it is estimated that around 80% of the population are passive breathers leaving them prone to stresses of all kinds, which if not dealt with will lead to ill-health. We were not meant to suffer prolonged stress and the pace of the modern world can make life seem like a battlefield with each person fighting to find some personal space, rest and peace of mind, while the demands of living heap higher and higher upon them.
Anne's teaching encourages us to re-connect with nature and that which is natural. Our breathing is arguably our most natural and vital function, yet it has become distorted through over much stress, tension and fatigue. The healthy baby is the perfect teacher of correct breathing, they are relaxed, feel good about life and have not internalized stress.
“There is no habit in life which pays
bigger dividends, and pays them more
promptly than complete breathing. It is the
source of your health, your cheerful spirits,
your energy, your youth and your relaxation.
A healthy baby is the perfect instructor in
correct breathing." Karin Roon The New
Way to Relax.
The Trust's work has positively impacted on thousands of people and our courses have been created out of decades of helping people with conditions such as anxiety, depression, asthma, chronic pain, phobias, low self-esteem, poor concentration, confidence, anger and self-harming issues, and the whole range of ill-health conditions people suffer in the 21st century, the list is virtually endless.
Anne was one of life's unforgettable people who lives on in the hearts of everyone she met, and we'd like to help her work reach more people and so we are aiming to raise £2000 to pay for the re-accreditation of the two courses (within the Scottish Qualification Framework) I created with Anne to help spread the wonderful work of teaching people how to breathe, relax, let go of stress and find and maintain health.
We are looking to raise £2,000. It would be so wonderful to do this and have our courses re-accredited so we can continue to spread the work and allow more and more people to benefit from it. It is a huge challenge for all of us who follow in Anne's footsteps, she had such a big heart, was so gifted, and full of vision and energy. All of the money we make goes back into the charity and its work, people offer their time and skills voluntarily, we have no paid staff. People who use our services are often on low incomes and cannot afford to pay much, most of what we earn at present is going in to pay for our room rental.
Being able to continue the work would mean so much to us, in fact for most of us there is no alternative, we have to continue the work and would be so grateful if you could donate towards the £2,000 we aim to raise.
Many thanks and Blessings from Heather and all at the G.R.E.A.T. Big Trust.
