Hi everyone—I have been living in Lubbock, TX for the past three and a half years. Initially I moved there from Dallas for inpatient rehab and decided to stay for sober living, and a job. I found success in sobriety from drugs for long periods of time, even through the pandemic, but I have been struggling for the past several months. Despite my staying busy with work, my using patterns were becoming more regular and riskier, involving a scarier cast of characters I wish I’d never met.
Along with the help and advice of my therapist, friends, and family, have decided to move back into my family home to regain some footing, work with my therapist and a 12-step sponsor, and get some sober time under my belt.
That being said, there are financial obligations that I am asking for your help with. I need to break my lease ($1530), get a UHAUL ($500-700), and a storage unit ($500+), as well as any incidentals along the way, (gas, etc). Please know that a family member will be in charge of any funds raised, it will not go through my hands, if you have any questions about temptation, etc.
The most important thing is that I focus on recovery right now. It’s been very easy for me to isolate and use in west Texas, and I am terrified that if I don’t get out of this current situation and connect with familiar and safe communities that I trust, I’ll be at risk. Whatever you can donate, will be much appreciated.
Thank you
