HWP Class of 2021 Post Graduation Celebration!
We need your help!
The traditional school sponsored end of year activities such as an excursion to NYC, and an 8th grade picnic, have unfortunately been cancelled due to mandated COVID19 restrictions. The parents of our 8th grade students have always hosted a celebratory post-graduation dance to conclude our children's time at Porter. This event brings all of the kids together for one last time, and is always memorable. Our 8th graders should not have to miss this tradition of a post-grad celebration, but we have to approach it differently this year.
Plans are now underway for a blockbuster event to celebrate our 8th graders! But we need your help to make it everything these kiddos deserve! Traditionally, there are many fundraisers held over the school year that collect resources to support this event. The past year, however, has presented us with many challenges and unknowns, leading the party planning to begin late, with little to budget.
A party at Rec Park is planned for June 15th, the day following the 8th grade graduation. We don’t want to share many details here, as it’s a surprise for the kids, but we have loads of things to entertain them! It will be AMAZING and SO MUCH FUN for the kids! This will be the last time many of these kids spend with each other as they all head off in different directions for high school, so we really want to make this an event to remember! It costs a great deal to host a party of this size, and as stated before, we are behind where we need to be with both funding and planning, as we were not able to host the usual 8th grade events.
We are asking for a great deal of support from parents, extended family, friends, and the local community to keep the tradition of celebrating our 8th graders with an amazing send off! We also know that our town can come together and show these kids our love and support!
With gratitude,
The 8th Grade Parent Planning Committee
