Medical Living Expenses

Dear Family, Friends + Community,

In 2021, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure where my Ejection Fraction operates between 9-13%. Unfortunately genetics testing found that this runs in my family. Recently in September 2020, my grandmother who fought poor heart health for 40 years succumbed to COVID-19. Her heart heart health was a contributing factor to her death. It has now come that I put my pride to the side and reach out for help in a way that I would have never. At 38 years, I decided to be a better steward of my finances and began to save and got to a point where I had put away 11 months of living expenses. Over the course of my illness I continued to work until I was able to and after a while all of those resources were dried up and all that was left as a resource was Medicaid and Food stamps. Though I am progressive when it comes to people needing these resources, I have always been conservative when it came to the use of government resources for self and asking people for help. It was my view that as long as I was able bodied and could at least work at McDonald’s that I would do it for me. Unfortunately, my body does not even allow me to move without shortness of breath and my quality of life has been deeply impacted.

Today, I am making a public appeal for help. To a certain extent, I am a very private person but unfortunately the times have required me to put my pride aside and reach out. I have attempted to live my life as a giver and I expect to return to being that individual. In the next few months I will be 42 years old and hope that I can return to a life that helps people and continue to be a steward of what God has blessed me. Unfortunately, this illness has caused great financial hardships but the good news is that I am on a trajectory to full health but my living situation and my ability to function financially has been deeply impacted. This has been coupled by folks with good intentions not always being able to follow through on commitments made which has at times has put me in precarious situations. I take full responsibility and just need help to get to the next step for my full recovery. I am asking for help from $5 on. Any amount is helpful. I am thankful to rent from folks who are understanding but I do not want to push their grace any longer. I am too close but yet so far off. If you are not able to help I ask that you offer kind prayers and thoughts as I continue to fight for my life.
