MOST CURRENT UPDATE: They have filed an appeal--- they have 30 days to respond. They put in a request for a supervisor to call them--- they have 30 days to respond. They went in 4 times since August 1st. and the clerk has made sure all info is in the computer. Meanwhile, October rent is due in a week and they've received the latest letter that confirms that one child is still in non pay status and one child is still in redetermination status. All paperwork needed is handed in and they are waiting for processing. THANK YOU FOR HELPING to pay September rent. Now we need to work on October and pray hard that the office processes all paperwork by November.

This family is a mother, father, and multiple children with special needs. They are deeply in debt but for the most part can pay their own way each month with the help of SSI for two of their children. Husband has a full time job and a part time job. Wife works part time between IEP meetings, doctor appointments for the children and has her own health issues. They do the best they can.
They had their SSI recertification recently and submitted paystubs by mail to SSI THREE times and the first two times they didn't get them. The third time they submitted by dropping off and NOT trusting the mail and that time they neglected to include the bank statement proving that they got a tax refund so they cut OFF the SSI. A tax refund is not counted as a resource but all SSI saw was too much money in their account (husband doesn't work in the summer so they need the tax refund to pay their bills in the summer).
They went in person to drop off the papers and get that fixed. They were able to get a local organization to pay $800 of their rent this coming September 1st.
That leaves them with the rest of the rent to come up with plus they're late on every single bill because they'd been expecting SSI backpay that never came because they kept NOT receiving the paystubs plus they borrowed $1000 that they have to pay back plus there is no SSI coming on September 1st. They've actually NEVER been this incredibly stretched before with EVERY bill being late, all credit cards at their max, and desperately needing to raise funds quickly.
They are truly embarrassed and upset by this turn of events. Let's do our best to relieve their worries at this time. Thank you for your consideration.
