Support HW BOOK PEDDLERS Startup

Humbly asking for support to startup my indie bookstore in DuBois, PA! Here’s my story... 

Hi, my name is Vicki. 
I have been working in the bookselling world for almost 10 years managing stores in a small family-owned chain  of bookstores. My current company is closing all their locations in 2021. I am looking to buy my current location and fulfill a lifelong dream of being an independent bookseller. 

We are located in a small city surrounded by many rural communities and small towns. DuBois is a consistently steady location with regular patrons begging for a bookstore to stay or reopen. That’s where I step in. I can give the local communities a physical bookstore to meet their needs. Folks drive from as far as an hour to shop here. The closest other bookstores are another hour and a half away! 

I have been blessed to have a fantastic employer that let me take the reins and run. I have traveled to national and international book conventions. I have hosted many authors big and small, with little or no money to market and advertise, but have done so with good success. From Harry Potter events to author signings, I have given 110% and lots of my own monies to make the most out of each event.

One of my favorite event attempts was to bring a small author convention to the “Pennsylvania Wilds”. It was a fun event but a small turnout. One of the seven attending authors wrote in his blog, “Vicki... organized a phenomenal event. I don’t know that I’ve ever attended a first year event like this one that was so well organized, or where the authors were made to feel so vital and welcome. She did an outstanding, commendable job, and I will do whatever I can to attend and support her future events. I’ll support her because she supports authors. If the other managers... are even half as creative and enthusiastic as she is, then... I want to do more business with them.” Thanks to Brian Keene for such support and kind words! 

In closing, I want to say, I know I can do this! I just need a small bump in investments to get it started. Thank you for helping,  whether it’s with kind words and support or a financial donation.
