Remembering Angel

Hi friends and family, this is Rissan. We recently had to admit my wonderful 9 y/o cat and best friend Angel into the hospital because she'd been losing her appetite, becoming very lethargic, and straying from her usual habits and personality throughout this week. We took her to a family vet, and upon doing some bloodwork, it was revealed that she had some serious abnormalities in her liver that required immediate attention. She was then rushed to the hospital, where it was diagnosed via ultrasound that she has severe pancreatitis (cause unknown in cats) and hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease caused by her loss of appetite and weight). As I write this (3/31/2025), she’s currently resting comfortably at the VRCC Hospital in Englewood receiving treatment such as antibiotics, pain killers, IV fluids, and steroids for her pancreas, and she is currently on a feeding tube in hopes that her appetite is restored in the coming days.
This has been an extremely devastating time for me, seeing as Angel has been healthy for her whole life up until this point; watching my best friend and lifelong companion reach this state knowing well she could live for many more years has been difficult to say the least. Those who have met Angel in person will know that although shy and wary of strangers, she is the cuddliest, least confrontational cat on the planet when she opens up to you. The cost for her treatment and stay at the hospital is quite steep, as will be the cost of medication and future check-ups from the hospital in the days following her initial discharge, so our family could use any help we can get. If all goes well, Angel would see many more years of life ahead of her and continue to share her joy with the entire family. Anything helps! Thank you all so much ❤️
