Help Mini Motley Sanctuary | Why We Are Fundraising:
- We’re a Not-For-Profit CIC - a safe haven for animals rescued from slaughter & trauma. Our work starts with the rescue and then continues for the lifetime of each animal.
- Our ethos is to give every one of these brave and resilient animals the best care possible and the highest quality of life - as they deserve. We want to prove to them that human kindness is real, as we begin to earn their trust and respect. It can take years to build a bond- especially from those who have suffered so much...but we have the patience and determination to nurture them.
- Sadly, many of the animals who come to live at Mini Motley Sanctuary bear the scars (physical and psychological) of their traumatic pasts. Their care is intensive and also increasingly expensive, which means we often have to ask for help from other animal advocates.
- We are developing educational, empathetic programmes to roll-out to schools worldwide, as part of our outreach mission.

- Hay and haylage deliveries have doubled in the ongoing hay shortage crisis in the UK. The crisis has driven up prices to an unprecedented high!
- Help with ongoing, huge vet expenses, bills and important medications for animals with special needs. Two of our rescue ponies now have EMS - a metabolic condition that requires close monitoring, special low-sugar diets and regular blood tests with the vets.
- Help with remedial farrier costs. Not only do all of our horses need farrier visits every 7 weeks, but our littlest rescue miniature horse needs expensive, specialist, supportive hoof boots to keep him out of pain

More about us:
We've been running our animal sanctuary for ten years. We provide forever homes for rescue horses, rescue sheep and other animals that we've saved from slaughter, abandonment, abuse and traumatic beginnings. Our residents also have additional physical, mental and emotional needs - and they find peace and rehabilitation here with us at the sanctuary.
We are a mother daughter team, running our sanctuary just the two of us. We share a deep love of animals and have a breadth of knowledge and experience of animal welfare, care and nutrition. Together we have an exciting vision for what this sanctuary could achieve.
We are both highly experienced in animal care, welfare and rehabilitation. We also have different skills and expertise, which will help with our sanctuary's mission. Ruth has a background in nursing and social care - and is a traditionally published author of poetry and children's books. Ruth's writing is inspired by animals and the natural world, with a focus on empowering children through that unique connection. Anna has worked in national radio & TV broadcasting for 10 years. Her shows have had a focus on documentary story-telling and the countryside.
Our first ever website is currently in production. We're hoping that this will allow us to reach more people and provide more in-depth information about what we're doing and the animals we've rescued.
Our long-term aims are to:
- Rescue more animals
- Create unique, mindful and educational programmes
- Fund a forever, secure home for the sanctuary. We are currently on rented land with many restrictions and the constant fear of eviction. We long for autonomy and to be free from this insecurity.
- Create inspiring and motivational talks, workshops and documentaries for people of all ages, sharing the animals' stories and what we can learn from them.
- Develop our accessible podcast and videos to share behind-the-scenes at the sanctuary, including cameras to live stream the animals at rest and play in their environment
Why Our Work Matters More Than Ever
We want to continue to dedicate our lives to rescuing more animals and through sharing their stories of resilience and recovery, help to empower the humans they share the planet with.
In a world where AI and technology is increasingly taking over and disconnecting us all from the natural world, and with the increased anxiety that these changes are causing for all of us, we believe that its more important than ever to encourage and develop the connection between humans, animals and the natural world.
