One of the true heroes in my life has shown that she is a mere mortal like the rest of us. But unlike the heroes you read about in comics, or see in movies, she doesn't wear a cape. She's never needed one. Her powers, you ask? A smile that lights up a room faster than the strongest of flood lights. A laugh that could disarm the meanest of muggers. She can craft such a beautiful necklace for your wife that she would finally forgive you for forgetting your anniversary date.
As part of being a human like the rest of us, she is susceptible to illness. I could curse at the sky for hours, asking why ANYONE would choose her to go through a rough journey with an incurable affliction. Her apparent 'arch nemesis' manifested himself as a tumor; a collaborative, stubborn one at that. "Collaborative" in the sense that it took 2 different types of cancer to take their toll on my hero. Such a strange conjoining of forces, that there are only 3 known cases of such in the United States.
Normally, the hero would be the one to save you, (as she has done for me many times) but in this case, my family and I have to rally and work to save her. It's a difficult task for us, as we're just sidekicks, misfits and hopefuls. This is where someone as caring as yourself could help my mother through this battle. What matters more, now than ever, is a show of force. A showing that ALL OF US stand behind her in this epic battle. In that I mean, I would appreciate a million donations of a penny, over one donation of equal value. We're looking for allies in our fight. My mother is looking for sidekicks. My family and I appreciate any and all help, of any size, shape or form. Thank you so much for reading, please share this campaign if you can find it in your heart.
