I am a mother of eight children, including my youngest who is just 6 years old. Right now, our family is going through an incredibly difficult time, and I am asking for help because I cannot manage everything on my own anymore.

On January 6th of this year, my husband, Tomas, was detained by ICE. Since that day, our lives have been turned upside down. Tomas has always been the heart of our family and our main provider—a devoted father who worked tirelessly to support our children and give them a stable life. Without him here, I am now solely responsible for caring for our eight children while trying to keep up with expenses that we once managed together.

Soon after Tomas was taken, a GoFundMe was created to help during the initial stages of this crisis. Since then, the situation has only become more overwhelming, with mounting legal fees and rising living expenses. As we continue to fight for his return home, we are reaching out again for support to help us get through this incredibly difficult time. With all of the mounting bills, we have pretty much exhausted all of the funds we have raised from the first GoFundMe.

We are struggling to keep up with basic living expenses. We have fallen behind on rent and are doing everything we can to catch up. Our electricity bill has reached $2,600, and we do not have the funds to pay it. Water, food, and other essential costs continue to add up quickly, and feeding my children alone costs about $350–$400 each week.

In addition to everyday expenses like car insurance, gas, laundry, and basic necessities, we are facing urgent medical and dental needs. My youngest needs care for cavities, and another child requires a specialist for a root canal that is not covered by insurance. I have had to delay their care because I simply cannot afford it right now.

On top of this, we are dealing with overwhelming legal expenses related to my husband’s case. We have already paid $5,000 for a habeas corpus case, $3,000 for required medical exams and transportation, and $3,000 for the I-485 petition. We still do not know what additional legal fees are ahead, but we know there will be more.

Every day, I am faced with impossible choices—whether to pay a bill, buy food, or get my children the care they need. I am doing everything I can to hold our family together, but I cannot do this alone.

Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, paying essential bills, covering legal costs, and getting my children the care they need.
