"Support for Clarissa"

Dear friends and family of Clarissa,
As many of you may have heard, our dear friend, Clarissa Coldren,  was in a car accident last week. The accident crushed her ankle, requiring multiple surgeries, plates and screws. Clarissa is also more than 7 months pregnant. Fortunately, the baby is doing well, despite the extreme stress of the crash. The accident happened less than two days before she was set to fly home to Panama, which is where her partner ( and father of her child) currently is; and where she plans to have the baby. Clarissa is remaining hopeful that she can return to Panama before the birth, though it is still extremely uncertain if this will be possible. As of today, Thanksgiving, Claire is still in the UC Davis hospital awaiting another surgery, she has now been there for nearly a week.
We do know  that for at least the next month Clarissa will need full time care and will not be able to fly. Her Nana, Paula, is planning on being her caregiver. The two of them are currently looking for a small place to rent in Fort Bragg or Mendocino. Paula recently moved to San Diego, and will need to temporarily relocate.
Many people have been asking how they can help Clarissa and the baby...And what she really needs is some financial support . She has a little money saved for the baby , but not nearly enough to deal with all of the unexpected costs of this situation. It is still unclear how expensive this may end up being because she still hasn't had all of the necessary surgeries. We do not know if she can return to Panama to have the baby as planned. We do not know if she'll be needing thysical therapy when she returns to Panama. What we know now is that she'll be needing full time care from her Nana, and neither of them will have an income. The basics add up. Right now, the cost of living for the immediate future is what is important. The costs may increase once we know more about how long healing will take, and whether she'll be having the baby in the states or in Panama.
Clarissa  has shown such unbelievable strength and courage during this crisis. She remains hopeful to get back to her baby's father for the birth of their son...and she continues to smile despite the fact that she is having to deal with the most difficult situation of her life. Although she is strong and optimistic, she is still experiencing extreme anxiety over the uncertainty of the situation.
I have seen how amazing our community can be when it comes to getting together to help one of our own. Clarissa and the baby need our help. If you can donate, even the smallest amount, please, please do. There is not a person in the world more deserving of your compassion than Clarissa. Please help ease her stress, for the well being of her, and especially her unborn son.
Please feel free to share this site with anyone you may think can help. Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this, your support is so needed and appreciated. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jenna Hinshaw, lifelong friend.
