Hi, my name is Angie Smith, and I am humbly asking for your help.
I have spent most of my life living paycheck to paycheck, always finding a way to make things work, even in tough times. I try to stay positive, believing that everything happens for a reason. But this time, I have run out of options—and I cannot do this alone.
I am a single mom to my 13-year-old daughter. After moving 8 times in 10 years, we have finally found a place that feels like home. It is the first apartment we have ever hung pictures on the walls.
Earlier this year, my employer cut all overtime hours, and it has taken a serious toll on my income. My apartment complex had been flexible, allowing me to pay rent later in the month. But now they have told me that unless I start paying rent on the 1st of each month, they will not renew our lease when it ends in November.
My August rent was due on the 1st and my September rent is due Sept. 1st. I have exhausted every option. I even went on findhelp.org and entered my zip code. Out of 95 organizations, I do not qualify for any of them because I am not sick, I am not in the military, I am not gay, and I do not drive a semi-truck. I even had to borrow $600 from my 20-year-old daughter to cover July’s rent. That was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.
I am doing my best to stay strong, but I cannot lose our home. My daughter deserves this sense of stability—and I am doing everything I can to protect it.
Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to us. And if you are unable to give, sharing this with others would also be an incredible help.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
Angie
