Lila’s Brave Fight against infant AML

On October 1, 2023, our family’s lives changed forever. On October 1, 2023, on her 11 month birthday, my precious granddaughter, Lila James, was diagnosed with a rare and high risk form of leukemia - infant acute myeloid leukemia. She is a warrior princess and has been putting up a brave fight against this horrible cancer for the past 6 months. She has undergone many tests, surgeries, and treatments including lumbar punctures, bone marrow aspirations, 4 rounds of high intensity chemo, and a bone marrow transplant. Through it all she has continued to be sweet, joyful and spirited, but mostly, brave. As you can imagine, the out of pocket costs of all of these treatments, medications, special procedures, clinical trial drugs, extended hospital stays, home renovations needed for an immunocompromised child, etc. continue to increase. We are starting this GoFundMe at the request of many who have asked to help Lila’s mommy and daddy meet their expenses in a tangible way. All of the funds raised here will go directly to help meet their out of pocket expenses for the 5 year journey they now find themselves on, and allow Lila’s mommy to stay with her while in the hospital and provide the care only a mommy can give.
