On July 31, 2015, Tawanda received news that no one wants to hear. The mass in her breast was indeed cancerous…Stage 3. On Wednesday August 26th she began her first of eight chemotherapy treatments. Every other week, she goes in for treatment and comes out one step closer to the goal—to be cancer free.
Although employed and insured, Tawanda needs our help. Once her chemotherapy is over, she will have to undergo surgery. The recovery period will be long and though she will be guaranteed her job through FMLA, she will not receive her full income. In addition to accumulating medical bills, Tawanda will be in financial need for the ordinary expenses of life. In order to mitigate the financial burden, we have set a goal of $3,500. This money is necessary to help pay medical bills as well as ensure Tawanda has the necessities to live post-surgery.
