On May 18th of 2018, a gunman opened fired into a classroom at Santa Fe High School. In the midst of panic and terror, Christian Riley Garcia guided others into a closet where he used himself as a barrier against the door. For the next dozen minutes, Christian’s love saved countless lives. It was his sacrifice that allowed others time to escape.
Love Thy Neighbor is an upcoming documentary that dives into the darkness that clouded that day May 18th, the family’s effort to find normality and healing in the wakes of their loss, and tell a story of who Riley was and how he impacted his family, his community, and ultimately the country.
No matter where you stand politically, we can all agree that no parent should have to bury their child after school. Let us unburden ourselves by actively seeking out understandings and solutions. We have the ability to do something right now.
So join our campaign in spreading Riley’s message by donating and/or sharing our page. We are looking to raise $15,000 in funds for production and distribution of our film into film festivals and beyond. With this money we have high hopes that we can spread this message of love and understanding, while also learning the lessons of our past, and what we can do better to Love Thy Neighbor.
Every dollar raised after the donation amount is met will go to the The Christian Riley Garcia Foundation, which was was founded in honor of his service of others, bravery and sacrifice. We aim to love God first and others above ourselves. Riley was faithful in doing this by following Jesus Christ's example:
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
It is our mission to love those around us and serve those in need.
