Heather Kicks Cancer's Ass
Donation protected
In July of this year, Heather was diagnosed with cancer in that delicate space where the esophagus and stomach meet. After meeting with a bunch of docs, including a trip to the Mayo Clinic, they determined she has Adenocarcinoma. The required treatment is 5.5 weeks of radiation (5-days a week) and 6 weeks of chemo (both of which she's already started). Once she has healed for six weeks after treatment, she will have surgery called an esophagectomy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Then the long road to healing will begin. After the surgery, they estimate she will be out of work for approximately 8 weeks. (You can follow along with her treatment on her site: www.caringbridge.com/visit/heatherdethloff)
What we can do now for Heather is to raise some money to help with all the expenses that come up that aren't covered by insurance. Things like medications denied by the insurance (bastards...it's being appealed); salary support for when she inevitably goes on short-term disability; and hotel costs for those out-of-town doctor visits; and the like. This is an easy thing for us to do, especially those of us who aren't near by to help with face-to-face needs.
So, let's get our girl some cash!!! Give today (or even give monthly until she's healed) and promote this fundraiser to your networks.
