Both twins were diagnosed with resistant MRSA at Lafayette General Medical Center on the 22nd and were sent in to Emergency Surgery.
Athen has Acute Osteomyelitis of his right femur and a Brodie’s abscess at the end of his bone. The surgeon went in behind his upper leg muscles and nerves to clean the abscess and bone, all his tissues seem to be okay and not affected by the infection. Christian was diagnosed with septic arthritis of the ankle joint the surgeon was able to remove the infection from his joint and the joint does not appear to be affected by the infection.
The boys will be at the hospital through the Thanksgiving weekend. Both Boys will be sent home with walkers, Picclines for Antibiotic treatments of Clindamycin administered 3x’s per day, bi-weekly doctor’s visits, they will need 24/7 at home care, physical therapy, and will need to be home schooled throughout their treatments.
Christian’s treatment plan is scheduled for 2.5 weeks and Athen’s treatment plan is scheduled for 6-8 weeks.
The family is in need of immediate financial assistance to pay for the medical expenses and home care associated with the treatment plans to help Athen and Christian get healthy again.
We appreciate any help you can provide Athen and Christian. Thank you.
