An 81 year retiree is stuck paying for something she thought she needed and it turns out it was just another scam and can't figure out the return process to get her $120 back.

An 78-year-old widower spent three hours on hold with Social Security, only to be talked down to by a “professional” who acted like he was a burden, all because he doesn’t own a computer and has never touched a smartphone.

A single mom of two stood crying in Staples because the employee couldn’t look up from her phone to even acknowledge her while she tried to figure out the self serve printer - she needs custody papers for court the next morning.

A young couple, excited to start their lawn-care business the right way, gave up after four days of confusing online forms and decided to just “wing it” and risk the fines, because no one would help them.

These aren’t lazy people. These are our neighbors, our parents, kids, proud, hardworking folks who are just trying to get things done the right way.

The worst part? Most of them still don’t even know we’re here. The suffer alone, give up in silence or get crushed with fees because know one ever told them there is a place in Ocala that will help them figure it out, and get it done – no judgement, no rush.

That’s where the Personal Service Center comes in.

We’re the last stop before people throw in the towel. We sit beside them, fill out the impossible forms, print what they need, teach them without making them feel stupid, and send them out with their dignity, and their paperwork, intact.

But right now, we’re the ones running on fumes.

Our Windows 10 computers are officially dead. Some mornings it’s all good, others mornings it’s a 15-minute wait to print a label. The printers wheeze and die mid-page. We have no private space; people spill their most personal struggles while the next person listens in.

We’re having to turn folks away, and it’s killing us. Where do they go? When their kids can't be bothered or are tired of trying to help again, and again.
