The Hushe Valley is set in the dramatic Karakoram mountains of of the Baltistan region of northern Pakistan. It is the last village before K2 and famous for its mountaineering - many people from the village are sought after for expeditions to K2 and other 8000m+ peaks across the region.

Since 2022 myself and friends have visited Hushe and been blown away by the warm and welcoming people. But in this remote place life is tough, and education is difficult. A long and brutal winter sees temperatures fall before minus 30 degrees, and school is closed for long periods. Similarly, challenging roads and remoteness mean internet and electricity is hard to come by and the children rely on local community members to teach them.

Support for education in Hushe goes a long way; 10,000 PKR month / £30 GBP can pay a teachers' salary for a month.

After Ramzan we are travelling to Hushe to trek to K6 base camp with a local team. We wanted to support the community and the school by trying to raise 120,000 PKR / £360 and enable an additional teacher to join the school for the coming year.
