Chris's heart transplant age 34

The picture is of my husband and our 8 year old son. My husband has been fighting for his life since the day he was born. He had been working since he was a teenager but since finding out he has become more ill they recommended he stop because it is too much stress on his heart. Multiple heart surgeries over the years has saved his life. He had a transplant when he was 16. Now he is on the list again but different situation. Because he has had so many surgeries there are issues. His heart layes against his chest now so there is a large chance if they aren't careful they could cut right into his heart. He has a stent in his neck and in his groin so there is half the access that the rest of us have, the access is very important. Because of these issues he only has two hospitals in the USA that feel confident about doing his transplant. His choices are either Mayo in Rochester, MN or UCLA. We can't afford to travel back and forth to UCLA so we go to Rochester. He goes in for a check up with them every 3 months. So far he is stable(stage 2) so they will not move him up the list until he gets sicker. But when he does it is going to become very hard. We live in Colorado and traveling there is expensive. We know that when he gets sicker(stage 1B) he has to live within 50 miles of the hospital so we will have to live there at least for a short time. We currently live with his parents and will continue to stay with them until we have to move. We are trying to keep done costs as much as possible his medical bills and prescriptions are very expensive. We do have insurance so that helps a lot. When we move we will need to get our own place again. We miss having our own space, married almost 9 years and together over 12. I love my husband so much and I can't imagine my life without him. He and our son also have an amazing relationship together. We enjoy everyday that we have together because we truely know that last day will come at some point.
My husband enjoys programming, fishing, boating, movies, bike riding, and hiking.
Thank you very much for listening to our story and helping us. You will truely be helping a very loving and caring family.
