Hi everyone, my name is Jadelyn. I am a permanently disabled opera singer. I’m also a mom to a disabled teenager and a wife to an incredibly smart but also incredibly injured husband. My husband, who is working full-time as a master technician at Dave and Buster's and getting his degree in electrical engineering, had a bad fall at work on the morning of April 7th. A heavy game machine fell on him - his collarbone was broken straight through, his rib fractured, as well as other contusions where the machine pinned him. He is going to need surgery to make sure his collarbone heals properly and he regains function in his dominant hand.

As I mentioned, Adam is the primary breadwinner in our home, and he balances caring for his physically disabled wife, working full-time, going to school full-time, helping raise our disabled daughter, and caring for our pets. The time he needs to heal is going to devastate our already precarious finances. While Worker’s Comp and the company’s temporary disability program should eventually cover a portion of his lost wages, it takes time and lots of red tape for those programs to start paying out. Which brings me to why we are here today.

As we are looking at an unknown interval that he will be unable to return to work, we’re hoping our chosen family and community might find it in your hearts to help keep our little family afloat while we navigate the choppy waters of temporary disability and Worker’s Comp.

Those of you that have known us for years know that we’re no strangers to adversity and have learned to breathe through trauma and the unknown. With the loss of our youngest child in 2013, you all taught us how to reach out for help when we need it. So now in 2026, that’s exactly what we’re doing again.

I’m setting the goal at 5-6 weeks of living expenses in the hopes that all the support we will ultimately need.
