Dustin Meyer was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease 4 ½ years ago. On August 23rd 2020 he was having horrible pains and made a trip to the ER to find out he had an infection in his intestines. They advised him to follow up with his gastroenterologist. On August 26th he followed up and the Doctor decided to do a colonoscopy on September 1st. One week later, on October 9th the Doctor called Dustin into his office to give him the news that some of the biopsies came back cancerous. They referred him over to the cancer center on September 23rd. He had his first appointment on September 30th for a follow up with his Doctor at the cancer center and he diagnosed him with colon cancer. They are treating him with chemo because cancer cells were found in his bloodwork. He has a long road ahead and now needs to be on an antibiotic immune booster that insurance will not cover.
Dustin will be starting his chemotherapy on Oct 27th twice a week along with a chemo pill once a week. Dustin has been unable to work as of 2 years ago because he started having problems with his heart. He would randomly pass out for 3-5 minutes with no recollection of how he ended up on the floor. Because of this condition he has been unable to find work because he is a liability. One year ago, his cardiologist put in a defibrillator to help control his heart although it has helped, the stress can become too much and the passing out starts again.
Dustin is not one to ask for help but the one who would be there in seconds if you needed it. He understands that his wife, Crystal, provides the only income for a household of 6. Crystal works 25 miles away from home and they are struggling to make ends meet. With Crystal driving to work and taking time off work to care of her husband and their 4 children, Madison, Tanner, Brylen and Hunter, so he can rest, their financial struggles are only going to worsen. We are asking for your help for this family.
Any help they receive will be genuinely appreciated. Donations will help with keeping the lights on, their house warm, mouths fed, and gas for traveling for work and appointments. And any excess will be set aside for any future unexpected expenses. Dustin has not been able to acquire life insurance due to his past medical history and he is worried he will leave a huge financial burden to his family.

This family hits home because 2 of the children are my bonus kids. I know how much love and care is involved in this family and I know they would do the same for anyone else.
