Phase 2: Long-Term Rebuilding & Recovery
When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica’s south coast, it devastated Treasure Beach and Black River. Ripping roofs away, flooding homes, and displacing families overnight. Thanks to your generosity and the support of many valunteers on the ground, emergency relief reached families quickly.
Now, months later, the deeper challenge remains: rebuilding homes, restoring stability, and helping families recover with dignity.
Many residents are still living under temporary coverings. Others can’t afford materials to repair structural damage. Small businesses that sustained families were destroyed and haven’t reopened. While emergency aid helped stabilize the situation, long-term rebuilding requires continued support.
All donations are distributed through trusted family and community leaders in Treasure Beach and Black River, who prioritize needs as they arise, including:
• Home repairs and rebuilding
• Roofing materials and structural safety
• Community clean-up and restoration
• Support for vulnerable families, elders, and children
This isn’t just about rebuilding houses, it’s about restoring safety, dignity, and future opportunity in the community I grew up in and love deeply.
I continue to post updates and photos so donors can see the real impact their support is making.
If you gave before, thank you.
If you’re seeing this for the first time, welcome.
And if you’re able, please donate or share to help Treasure Beach and Black River continue moving forward, one home and one family at a time.
