Hurricane Victims, Cheryl and Bob Boulanger
Donation protected
Hi, My Name is Carrie Bosley from Jacksonville, FL, and I am fundraising for my Sister and her husband, who were devastated by Hurricane Ian in Geneva, FL.
The disastrous effects of Hurricane Ian have significantly impacted Cheryl and Bob Boulanger, paralyzing them as this is the second natural disaster they have faced. In 2017, Hurricane Irma brought substantial flooding, and they had just recently completed rebuilding from this devastating event. Hurricane Ian brought further devastation, wreaking severe havoc and destroying the rebuild and the remainder of the house and property. With optimism, Bob remained at the home to save as many treasured objects and mementos as possible. Unfortunately, nearly everything has been destroyed by the flooding, and not much can be salvaged. Lake Harney still needs to reduce by over one foot, to allow reentry to the home before assessing if they can even rebuild.
As you can imagine, this has caused an inordinate amount of stress. In early 2021, Cheryl suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 53. She completely changed her lifestyle and has been an inspiration to all throughout her journey and recovery, all while she is still recovering, both mentally and physically. Hurricane Ian brought further stress as Cheryl was forced to flee her home with her beloved pets and her daughter’s family, living in a hotel room indefinitely. To further complicate the situation, Bob and Cheryl are only partially insured for flooding due to an issue at the Mortgage Company. This means little to none of the damage will be covered. Cheryl was recently hospitalized due to debilitating stress; but has remained resilient, as she and Bob continue to support their entire community in parallel of dealing with their own tragic loss.
Laughing Fish Landing (LFL) was not merely a family home but a gathering place to celebrate holidays and special occasions with family and friends. Bob and Cheryl are the most selfless individuals you will meet, giving so much to their family and community without asking for anything in return. Post-Hurricane Irma, they did not ask for any assistance as they wanted funding to go to those in need. This time is different; they need your help! It will take time for them to rebuild their lives; while grieving the loss of their home and everything they have ever owned and have worked so hard for.
As family, friends, neighbors, and the community rally around them, we kindly ask for donations to help them get through this unimaginable tragedy and help restore all that they have lost. At this point, they have lost everything and will need to start from nothing to rebuild.
With Gratitude, we appreciate anything and everything you can donate to support Bob and Cheryl during this devastating time. Any funds donated will be used for food, housing, lodging, clothing, repairs to the home (as being rebuilt), or buying a new home.
