Hi all.

I often try to raise funds during natural disasters that impact me personally and where I can directly distribute USD to affected friends for their personal use in times of devastation.

Hurricane Melissa has made landfall on the tiny, beautiful island of Jamaica (roughly the size of Connecticut), population just three million and the true lengths of crisis are right now unknown (10/28/25).

Many of you know that through my time on Mackinac Island, I had the great privilege of working closely alongside many Jamaican friends and associates, learning of their culture and acquiring a deep appreciation for their work ethic, comradery, and of course their unparalleled positivity - and lest we not forget their culinary contributions to the world at large!

I have 8 wonderful friends whom I trust completely and I would love to provide each with at least $2000 to use at their discretion so that they may help loved ones back home. Money collected will be personally divided and distributed to my friends. I am so grateful for your support in raising these funds. Please contact me should you wish to donate your support directly.

This is my first and possibly last use of GoFundMe. They have paused accessing funds and requiring that I name friends who I will divide donations with. I felt that to be intrusive, but here they are and many of you always know them. Side note, thank you so much for everyone who donated immediately. I am so saddened that this process has taken so long. I thought it would be the fastest way for me to raise money and get it into immediate hands that need it. Lesson learned. And so hopefully naming my people will get things moving:

This was my first and last GoFundMe experience. It took over a month for GoFundMe to distribute funds, which lets me know how they make their money - on the interest of funds for people in need. At any event, I thank everyone who donated - together, we were able to raise $550 for each of my Jamaican friends to help their family and neighbors on the island. Thank you all!!
