This is me and my dear friend Shanique from Jamaica, whose community was recently hit by a devastating Category 5 hurricane that destroyed homes, roads, and left families struggling to find food and clean water. Shanique is one of the kindest, most hardworking people I know. She is the mother of three children who has worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Her community has been destroyed, and so many people have lost everything. Homes are damaged, streets are blocked, and access to food and clean water is scarce. Her neighborhood needs major and costly repairs.
