HI, my name Is Jacob and this is my story. 5 years ago we traveled to Jamaica for vacation. While there we wanted to go off resort to check out some local sites. This is where we met Richard Smith. He was our taxi driver for the day. He was unbelievably kind and informative. He showed us things that not many get to see and it was amazing. Later in the week while we were there he picked my wife and I up and along with his wife went on a river tour. we spent the whole day together. On the way back we stopped at the grocery store to pick up some supplies. That leads us to a few weeks ago. In 5 years of friendship he's never asked me for anything but his friendship. When he called he asked if I could come down and help repair or build roofs, not for money. See he knows I work with metal and figured I'd be the guy to help with the metal roofs that are common in Jamaica. Well being a busy guy and close to the holidays that's a tough thing to get done right now.

Living in the States is a privilege that we can get supplies and help very easy compared to an Island that relies on tourism to survive. The amount of resources are limited to what ever is shipped in. So its means a lot to me to raise funds for people that really are desperate. The pictures above show some of the people that he is helping. Most don't have any shelter more than a tarp. I'd like to raise enough to build shelter for these good people.

Richard plans on dispersing the funds among the families to not only get them shelter but food is also a concern. I trust this man , he does it for them and doesn't take anything for himself. I would hope he'd keep a little for himself for doing such a service. My wife and I are returning to Jamaica soon for vacation and I plan to visit some of the families and take video and drone shots of the area and the progress to return to normal.
