Hurricane Relief for Mandy

I very kindly would like to ask for assistance recovering from Hurricane Milton. The dogs and I are not able to safely stay in my home due to the level of Aspergillus and black mold. This has been exhausting and financially/mentally draining. I was trying to wait on insurance to pay the money it is going to take to make the house safely livable, but my mediation date isn't until September 8th 2025 with a trial date of January 26,2026.

Back Story

I have had an on-going claim from Hurricane Ian that is still in litigation and have been living with mold for a couple years now with it continuing to get worse and take effects on our health. Medical bills have been adding up for me and the dogs. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to afford the repairs without the settlement from the insurance company. During Milton I incurred new roof damage and water intrusion after losing the tarp with the high winds. We lived in the house with no power until the side effects from the mold continuing to grow got so severe we had to leave with very little belongings. The home didn't have power for 10 days which caused the mold to grow exponentially making most of the things left in the house unsalvageable.

I was denied for FEMA housing assistance due to having insurance, then was denied for loss of use from insurance based on the fact the kitchen and bathroom is considered still usable. The insurance company is going against the recommendations of the inspectors. I feel like each glimmer of hope I have gets quickly dimmed.

They aren't offering an even reasonable amount for the damages so it sounds like this is going to be an ongoing battle. I am currently living in a camper and the temperatures being as high as they already are I worry about the dogs being in there while I'm at work since it has already frozen up a couple of times. I desperately want to get back into my house before hurricane season hits again.

I would like to at least remove the drywall and treat the mold so we can have a safe place to go if a storm actually hits here again. If anyone can help with this I would be so thankful.

Eventually I will need to replace clothing, furniture, linens, towels, and necessities along with dog supplies. I am also struggling to find affordable storage for the items that can be salvaged so that we can start clearing out the house. If anyone knows of something please let me know!

This has been a very humbling experience for me and I am praying every day for some type of normalcy back. I am so thankful that the dogs and I are ok. If anyone is able to help us with any of these things we would be forever grateful.
