HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS FOR BELIZE

Good day friends of Belize,
My name is Orlando Burns, a member of the Rotary Club of Orange Walk Town, Belize, Central America. Under our motto: “Service above Self”, we advocate for causes that will improve the lives of our fellow Belizeans.
About #HurricaneEtaRelief project
Hurricane Eta has brought unexpected rains and caused severe flooding with negative impacts on many communities across the country of Belize. The Rotary Club of Orange Walk would like to request financial assistance from Belizeans and friends of Belize to provide much needed relief and assistance to these families directly impacted. The Hurricane Relief project will be in coordination with all (10) Rotary Clubs of Belize.
Most Vulnerable Communities
Many of our communities are located near rivers and coastal areas that have been displaced and affected by the torrents of rainfall this week due to Hurricane Eta. Two major towns were also impacted by rising waters. Assessment data stating the level of damages and number of families affected by the floods has not been made available, the waters still remain high. The images obtained clearly depict dire situations for many families that will need immediate assistance to recover from the floods. The agriculture sector has been intensively affected as well, there will be shortages of food supplies. Many of these vulnerable communities are farming communities that will need all the assistance that can be provided.
One Belize, One Nation United
With the funds collected, we will ensure that the most vulnerable families affected by the floods will receive the necessary assistance. Every cent counts, we are not requesting large donations, we are requesting any financial support within your means to support these communities and families.
