Hurricane Relief: Chris & Denise McDonald
Donation protected
Hurricane Sally wasn't kind to my parents. Within 24 hours, Sally went from looking like a minor tropical storm, to a raging category 2 hurricane that pummeled my parents' home.
At 4 AM, in the midst of the eyewall of the storm - the worst part - Chris & Denise (my parents) had to flee their home when water started pouring in through their lighting fixtures and through holes in the roof. It was treacherous, but they made it out.
The house wasn't so fortunate. A new roof is needed, along with many of their internal walls and flooring due to water leaks from the roof. Add on top needing a new bathroom entirely and potentially a new HVAC system, and it starts piling up quickly. I've been on-site in Florida and am helping them tear down walls and ceiling panels, and can personally confirm that the damage is going to take a while to resolve.
While it's hard for me to estimate how much money it's going to take to fix everything, I know for a fact that they will owe at least many thousands of dollars out of pocket. Right now they have many generous members of their church providing them hot meals and temporary housing, so the only real need they have left is the money necessary to cover contracting costs in the coming months.
My parents don't know this fundraising page exists, and wouldn't ask for the money themselves. But I've seen the damage myself and know how far they have to go to repair. Every dollar you donate will go directly to them and will ensure they can meet their insurance deductible requirements as contracting fees stack up. Anything you can give would be tremendously appreciated.
