RESTORING a Home and helping a Family after Hurricane Laura's devastation-
Life is filled with unexpected twists and turns. Jim, a retired Army veteran, and his loving wife, Rhoda, recently adopted 5 wonderful little children who were in desperate need of home where they could grow up together and not be separated by the tragedy that struck them young. These children came with emotional trauma as well as medical and educational needs. In spite of the challenges and even though Jim and Rhoda had not planned on spending their retirement years raising a second round of young children, they had fallen in love with those bright, eager faces.
In early August, this new family moved to their new home in Louisiana to be near new aunts, uncles, and cousins. As they settled into their new home, 3 weeks later, Hurricane Laura destroyed the Rine family's home.
Winds shook their house apart, tearing down ceilings, destroying walls, and ripping off shingles and siding, which allowed the heavy rain to pour into to their home. Blown fiberglass insulation covers all of their belongings. Mold is quickly moving into the walls, flooring, and exposed wood.
Insurance will only cover some of the costs of rebuilding a home for the Rine's. They need help in so many areas of the rebuilding process: cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, tools, mold treatments, debris disposal, storage fees for what can be salvaged while the house is being rebuilt, etc.
Even a small contribution can help the rebuilding effort.
My name is Kimberly, and I have known Jim and Rhoda Rine for 25 years. Jim and I served in the military, and our children grew up together. They are a wonderful family who have cared for so many others. I am reaching out to family and friends so that we can now help them.

The family began immediately to save the house.

Even though the house is not safe to enter, the children have pitched in to help with picking up debris and cleaning up the yard.

Rhoda is working hard to salvage as much of the children's belongings as possible.
