Hi, my name is Paulina. I am originally from Mexico City but reside in NYC.

There has not been much coverage in the news, but on the night of October 24th a Category 5 hurricane (Otis) impacted Acapulco. My parents and I were in our apartment there when it happened and saw how it left everything devastated. A lot of people were injured, lost lives, and lost their homes as a result.

Sadly, there is a lot of corruption in our government and no relief funds are being issued to help them, media is being kept out, and hardly any help is being given. There are currently no stocked stores, communications, electricity, or water.

Acapulco has always been a second home to me, and I care deeply about the people who live there and families I have gotten to know throughout the years. There are 3 families who work with us (Familia Chacón, Familia Cabrera and Familia Agustín) and have lost their homes. Their livelihood is completely dependent in tourism and they will not be able to work until Acapulco is rebuilt. I am trying to raise funds to help them rebuild and send them aid, and if we gather more funds and can help more people (their neighbours and relatives) in the process that would be amazing.

The funds will be given to these families who need it, and also be used to purchase food, water, and other much needed products until they can start reconstruction. Funds will be received by me and transferred to my account in Mexico, to then be forwarded to them.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to take the time to give an update about the families in Acapulco.

They have started reconstruction of their houses and were also able to purchase some furniture.
