Hurricane Otis Destruction - Family in Acapulco
Donation protected
On October 25th 2023, hurricane Otis devastated the coastal city of Acapulco.
This level 5 hurricane was the strongest storm to have ever hit the pacific with winds of up to 330km/hr and causing 16B USD in damage. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without drinking water, electricity and communication for days.
Our entire family's roots on all sides are in this city. Our Grandfather's house where our Mother and our Uncles all grew up was destroyed.
The roof has been mostly gone for over two months. There is no cover from the rain and the house continues to be damaged by the water.
The cost of building a new roof is devastating but urgently needed. The hurricane also destroyed the stairs, vehicle, furniture and more.
We're asking for some help to alleviate some of the cost. As a family we have exhausted any and all resources and are now reaching out to our community here in Canada to help us. We have a lot of friends and relatives in Acapulco who have been able to push through with the help of their communities and neighbouring cities but the rising cost of materials and labour have made a lot of things next to impossible.
Our goal of 8000$ is minimal compared to what is needed to rebuild but anything helps.
Thank you
