Hurricane Melissa’s landfall on the south west coast of Jamaica has
left catastrophic flooding, landslides, widespread destruction.
And now the aftermath. We must act now.
Jamaica is in a humanitarian crisis. Ground zero.
Treasure Beach became my community fifteen years ago. Hurricane Beryl last year devastated Treasure Beach. And now 16 months later Hurricane Melissa. Overwhelming devastation.
I have set up a GoFundMe.
Covering costs of ON THE GROUND HELP volunteers delivering food directly to the hands of the most vulnerable in Treasure Beach + neighbouring communities, off road and to far reaching areas. WCK World Central Kitchen works with local chefs at Gayle’s Landing and Pan A Knock, serving hot meals.
Funds also for filling and sending barrels. Everything is needed. Focussing on perishable food, hygiene, clothing, over the counter meds and bedding.
Treasure Beach Women’s Group who support the community.
BREDS Treasure Beach Foundation who support the community.
Creators of Hope Journeys who rebuilt homes after Beryl will again be rebuilding now.
The above 3 organizations are non profit.
This time, I am in Toronto organizing the delivery of food and water with my team in Treasure Beach. The team started last Wednesday as soon as a vehicle could get through the roads. All help is for jump starting communities and economy. All amounts will make a meaningful difference. Rebuilding souls. Recovery and rebuilding.
Thanking you with my whole heart, Iris

“Ya man…
The journey is long and we have to carry on the process. And we know the road. The road is very rocky right now, and bumpy. So, we all have to communicate in life right now. This is the time for one love and unity. Blessings. Always. And we will keep up the hard work and the success of building back Jamaica. One love.”
Hi, my name is Iris Bisenieks. I live in Toronto, Canada and have been
going to Treasure Beach for the last 15 years. Treasure Beach quickly became more than a travel destination. I have deep friendships with locals who are like family. This is a unique community and I am
privileged to be a part of it. Last year I was at ground zero helping deliver food for World Central Kitchen and understand the depth of this disaster.
With the devastation Melissa has brought this GFM will help support Treasure Beach and surrounding communities. Please assist in whatever capacity ($) you can.
