Hello everyone,

My name is Luna. I was born in Jamaica but now live in Italy. My heart is breaking as I write this — Hurricane Melissa has devastated my hometown and the surrounding communities.

Entire neighbourhoods have been destroyed. Many houses — including those of my family and close friends — have lost their roofs or been completely flattened. Food and clean water are critically low, and the next few months will be a true struggle for survival and rebuilding.

My family and many of their neighbours depend on tourism for their income, but with so much destruction, that won’t be possible for a long time. Some friends have lost not only their homes but also the businesses they built over the years — their only source of livelihood.
