Hi, my name is Kerena. I am a proud Jamaican and member of Summer Hill community, located in upper St. James. I’m a true country girl at heart.

I never imagined I would be here creating a GoFundMe, but today, I no longer have a choice, because my community needs help.

In our district, many of the homes were built from board, and after Hurricane Melissa, almost all of them were destroyed. Only about 10% are still standing. The rest are flattened or roofless, leaving families with nowhere to sleep, nowhere to cook, nowhere to call home.

It’s heartbreaking to witness. It’s even harder to put into words, search #HurricaneMelissa on social media, you’ll see. All I can say is: we need help.

Funds raised here will be used to assist in anyway possible, we will keep you guys posted with the use of every single dollar as accountability and integrity is key. We are also accepting any other support we can get, non-perishable food, clothing, hygiene products, building material, anything that can help families start over.

I wish I could show the videos so everyone could truly understand the devastation, but trust me when I say, people are suffering and they need us now more than ever.
