Hi everyone,
Inside My Art Project is an Art Therapy organisation based in East London.
We have set up this fundraiser on behalf of Yashimabet Holistic Care, a community-based organisation in Vineyard Town, Kingston who we have worked alongside in the past, and who have been quietly doing powerful work in the Rastafari community of Jamaica for years.
When Hurricane Melissa swept through Jamaica, it didn’t just tear through homes, it shook communities. Many of our elders and families within the Rastafari community are now facing deep hardship: homes damaged, food supplies lost, and medical needs left unmet.
Yashimabet Holistic Care, a small but mighty community organisation based in Vineyard Town, Kingston, has been on the ground for years doing the quiet, consistent work of caring for our elders, feeding the hungry, and providing free medical support to those often forgotten by the system. Their work is rooted in love, dignity, and the Rastafari principle of communal upliftment... “I and I rise together.”
Now, in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, they need our help to continue serving those who need it most.
Yashimabet’s team, including volunteer doctors, herbalists, and community members, are working tirelessly to deliver medical care, food packages, clean water, and essential supplies to elders and families across the island. But with limited funding, their reach can only go so far.
That’s where we come in.
We’re raising £5,000 (with a target of £3,000 initially) to help Yashimabet continue their emergency relief work over the coming months.
Your donation — no matter how small — will go directly towards:
- Supplying food and clean drinking water to elders and families
- Providing medical care, equipment, and prescriptions for those who cannot afford it
- Rebuilding damaged homes and community spaces
- Supporting ongoing outreach to isolated members of the Rastafari community
- Cover shipping and transportation costs to ship donated items to Jamaica and transport them to different locations on the island
This is about community care in its truest form. These are people who have given their lives to culture, to spiritual preservation, and to community service and now they need us to show up for them.
If you can, please donate and share this campaign widely. Every pound, penny, dollar, cent, repost and show of support helps.
Let’s stand with Yashimabet Holistic Care and help our elders and families rebuild, recover, and rise again.
“Let the hungry be fed, the naked clothed, the sick nourished, the aged protected, and the infants cared for.” - The Rastafari Creed
One love, always. ❤️
