Rebuilding Lives After Hurricane Melissa: A Call to Action

Hurricane Melissa has left a trail of devastation across Jamaica, especially in the parishes of Westmoreland and Hanover. Families have lost their homes. Children are without basic necessities. Elderly individuals and people with disabilities are facing unimaginable hardship.

This is not just a crisis—it’s a moment for compassion, urgency, and collective responsibility.

We are raising £2000 to deliver direct aid to the most affected small communities, including Haughton Grove, Chichester, Mt Peto, Bessie Baker, Porters Mountain, Golden Grove, and Axe and Adze. Your support will help provide:

Non-Perishable Food Items: Rice, Pasta, Flour, Tinned fish, Tinned vegetables, Powdered milk, Cereals, Biscuits

Hygiene and Sanitation:

Diapers (baby and adults)

Hygiene kits (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary pads, deodorant)

Toilet paper and Feminine hygiene products

Hand Sanitiser

This initiative is led by a team of professionals with deep roots in the affected communities. Many of us have family and friends still living in these areas, and we are committed to extending support to other parishes as resources allow.

This fund is created in loving memory of Georgiana Dodd and Paula Parkin, two lifelong friends from Bessie Baker who dedicated their lives to helping others. Their daughters, Judane Doeman and Lorraine Parkin, are continuing that legacy through this cause.
