Our beloved Accompong Maroon Village, nestled in the hills of St. Elizabeth, has been devastated by Hurricane Melissa. This historic and sacred community — home to the proud descendants of the Maroons — has lost over 95% of its homes. Roofs have been torn away, farmlands flooded, and families left without shelter, food, or clean water.
The Maroons of Accompong have stood strong for centuries, protecting their land, culture, and freedom. Today, they need our help to rebuild and recover from this disaster.
I was born and raised in the Accompong Maroon Village. I grew up in Accompong, went to school there, and still have family and friends in the community. I visit the village every year, and to see the damage Hurricane Melissa left behind is heartbreaking and overwhelming. I want to help rebuild the school, so the children can continue their education, and help restore hope to the entire community.
Your donations will go directly toward:
Rebuilding homes and community structures
Providing food, water, and emergency supplies
Restoring clean water systems and electricity
Supporting elders, children, and displaced families
In the spirit of unity and compassion, 30% of all donations will go to support the People with Disabilities, providing aid, accessibility resources, and inclusive rebuilding efforts for those most vulnerable during this crisis.
Every dollar counts — whether you give $5 or $500, your kindness will make a real difference for a resilient people who have given so much to Jamaica’s history and heritage.
Let’s stand together in solidarity with Accompong. Help us rebuild the Maroon Village stronger than ever.
Together, we rise. Together, we rebuild.
