Hi everyone,
On behalf of my friend Kay Shaw and her family, I am reaching out with an urgent appeal for help after Hurricane Melissa tore through her community in Spring Garden, Trelawny. Her home suffered catastrophic damage, and they are facing a devastating road to recovery.
During the height of the storm, their entire roof was ripped off. The moments that followed resulted in complete and total destruction inside the house. Their furniture, appliances, clothing, and personal belongings were drenched.
They were able to use scattered pieces of whatever materials they could find in their yard to patch up a small section of the roof. This means their home is not completely secured, and they are constantly worried about further damage from the rain, as well as the safety of their remaining possessions.
I have set a goal of $4,500 USD to cover the immediate, critical phases of their recovery. Your donation will directly provide:
Materials - for the roof such as zinc sheets, hurricane straps, and lumber to replace the lost roof and secure the structure.
Window Replacement - repairing the broken windows to secure the house from weather and theft.
Essential Furniture - Replacing key items destroyed such as a bed and a refrigerator.
Family support - Funds to help her mother with her farming, her crops were destroyed and that is her main source of income.
We know that many families in Jamaica have been affected by Hurricane Melissa. They are deeply grateful for any support you can offer to help them get back on their feet.
If you are unable to donate right now, please share this appeal with your network. Every share helps us reach one more person who might be able to help them find safety and stability again.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support as we fight to rebuild their home and their lives.
