Hello everyone,

My name is Nathanya and I’m writing this with a heavy heart from Hopewell, St.Elizabeth Jamaica. Just a few hours ago, Hurricane Melissa tore through our island, leaving a trail of destruction that I never imagined I’d experience firsthand.

The storm hit our community hard — strong winds ripped off roofs, heavy rain flooded roads, and in just a few terrifying hours, the place I’ve called home for years was severely damaged. Part of the roof collapsed, water poured into every room, and most of our belongings were ruined. I’m thankful to be alive and safe, but my home — the place filled with memories, laughter, and love — is now unlivable.

Right now, I’m trying to raise enough funds to repair the roof, replace damaged walls, and restore basic necessities like electricity and plumbing. Every dollar will go toward rebuilding, securing materials, and helping my family have a safe place to sleep again.

We’ve received incredible support from friends and neighbors, but the costs are far beyond what we can manage on our own. It’s hard to ask for help, but I believe in the kindness of people near and far — and I know that even small contributions can make a huge difference.
