Hello! My name is Dr. Lydia Smith (Jalyka Smith’s Mother)
I was born and raised in a small fishing village in Clarendon, Jamaica. At 14, I migrated to the United States, but my heart has always remained with the people of my island home.
Recently, I founded Grandfada Distribution, a company built on the dream of creating sustainable access to essential goods across the Caribbean in memory of my father, who passed away last year. He was born in West Moreland, one of the most affected areas by the storm.
Our first product, Lydia Rice, a 100% Long Grain and Premium Jasmine Rice imported from Vietnam; was proudly developed to feed families with quality and care.
As Hurricane Melissa, the most catastrophic storm to ever strike the Caribbean, tore through Jamaica, I watched in heartbreak knowing how many families would struggle in the aftermath. Many have lost their homes, their crops, and their ability to access basic food supplies.
Before the storm, we had already secured rice and other inventory in Jamaica to be sold in grocery stores, delivered to homes and placed in restaurants & resorts.
Now, the mission is much bigger. As disparity sweeps the island, we’re putting our resources to work for the people. Our team at Grandfada Distribution is committed to using every dollar raised to purchase and deliver rice and essential supplies free of charge directly to the most affected areas.
We currently have approximately 230,000 pounds of rice in Jamaica, ready to be distributed to those in need.
We are offering Lydia Rice at wholesale price for this effort, ensuring that your donations go farther and feed more families.
For every $5 donated, 2 lbs of rice goes to a family in need.
To make a long story short: Your donation buys rice and other essentials delivered directly into the hands of the Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Melissa.
This campaign is about restoring hope, dignity, and nourishment to those facing devastation.
How You Can Help:
Every dollar donated will go toward food and relief supplies for families in need. Whether you give $5 or $500, or even just share this fundraiser— your generosity will directly help someone eat, rebuild, and recover.
* All funds donated are allocated through our non-profit organization Diamond in a Rock Foundation to buy the rice from Grandfada Distribution. Our team in Jamaica including us personally, will then distribute the rice and other essential supplies (such as water, chicken, etc.) throughout Jamaica with the help of select churches, communities & other humanitarian groups.
Thank you so much for your help and participation to rebuild & feed Jamaica.
Together, we can make a difference.
One love, one meal, one community, one family at a time.
God bless you,
Dr. Lydia Smith
