and videos come in, it appears that the damage and destruction is beyond comprehension. The only thing I could compare it to is the EF5 Tornado that devastated Joplin, MO back in 2011.
My parents, Michael and Celia Georges, who are in their 70’s, still live on the island of Tortola and were severly affected by this monster storm. They lost their home (my childhood home) as well as my Dad’s business.
Thankfully, they were able to make it to a storm shelter shortly after they lost their roof. They are alive and well and are currently at this storm shelter. Emotionally, they are pretty shook up and are still trying to process what has happened.
As of 6:00 a.m. today (Sept. 8), a British Navy vessel has landed and has begun to deploy supplies, emergency/clean up vehicles, medical help and food. The clean up process has just begun.
I am seeking any sort of help from anyone who is willing and able. The funds will go toward rebuilding the lives of my parents. Any amount will help.
The goal is to start with my parents first,
and then move on to my neighborhood block, as most of those residents have also lost everything and have been displaced due to the effects of the storm.
The funds for my parents will go toward:
Personal care items
Heavy equipment rental
The rest of the money will go toward the people in my neighborhood, mainly essential survival supplies like basic hygiene kits.
I thank you in advance for your kindness and compassion during this intense time of turmoil.
