Please provide immediately help to the impoverished families of Nicaragua, as they literally hang on for their lives after the severe impact of hurricane Iota, which is the second hurricane to hit the region in two weeks!
Using whatever they can find to raft to safety
Main rural bridges completely impassable
What happened:
Devastating hurricane Iota made landfall in Nicaragua on Monday the 16th of November, 2020 as the second category 4 hurricane to hit the region in the past two weeks. The devastation is widespread, as people were still trying to grope through the wreckage where their homes once stood after hurricane Eta destroyed homes across Nicaragua weeks before Iota.
Inside the storm:
I am writing this as hurricane Iota is currently sweeping across Nicaragua. I went out today in my truck and helped a few guys get out of the river, who thankfully climbed onto the roof of my truck. After that I had to turn back as the other areas were not crossable as the storm is still raging. Many of the local inhabitants are well below the poverty line, whose remaining tiny shacks which are built with the most humble of materials, washed right away; as the rivers overflowed with the torrential downpour of last night. The magnitude of the Iota is well over the last straw for the locals, as last night's king tide and the already overfilled rivers, exploded their banks sweeping through the streets and valleys engulfing countless homes and livelihoods; these families have nothing left.

Who it goes to:
We are asking for whatever aid you can give. My name is Simon Cox, I am from the USA, I am the founder of BRINY.COM and have a clothing store in the region. I have been in and out of Nicaragua for the past 17 years and know Nicaragua and the locals well. My wife Alicia is Nicaraguan, so we have a direct connection to the local families in grave immediate need! We are basing a supply stage 1 dropoff in the BRINY store in Hacienda Iguana Tola, where we will be receiving goods such as e.g. oil, beans, rice, and baby formula for direct local distribution. If you are within Nicaragua and want to drop-off goods, that type of donation is more than welcome too. 100% of any donated funds will go towards the purchase of more food and clothing aid. I will directly purchase these goods in Rivas (When passable) and we are also making arrangements to have relief funds trucked in from Managua. A portion of these funds will be designated establishing clean well water after the flood waters recede, which is crucial to restoring livable conditions in these communities. Please help these people in their greatest time of need!

We have been compiling lists of names and phone numbers of local families hardest hit, so that we have an entry point into certain areas that need it the most. This will help us plan ahead and make distribution easier. We will use the same channels we did for distribution after Eta, working together with other Expats who help with transport in distribution logistics. Because of the great and immediate need, I will move ahead as soon as the roads are passable and continue to purchase goods with my own funds at hand.
Thank you sincerely for your donation and support during this time of great need!
Kind regards
-Simon
